Installation Instructions for
El Camino Front Bumper Cover
Place both the front bumper cover and fender extensions on the
ground as they will be installed on the vehicle. Line up front
extensions with cover so they align properly. Drill four ¼” holes,
(evenly top to bottom), from fender extension to bumper cover, both
sides.
Remove front bumper, (4 bolts per bumper shock). Remove both rubber
filler sides attached to bottom of front fender, (save the nuts as
they will be used to install bumper cover). Disassemble chrome
bumper from inner bumper, keeping cosmetic panel located between
them. Place cosmetic panel evenly on bumper cover and mark holes.
Drill holes out large enough for adjustment.
Place inner bumper into back of bumper cover with cosmetic panel
between and reinstall factory bolts and nuts, loosely. Reinstall
bumper unit back on vehicle and loosely reattach to bumper shocks.
Place and attach side fender extension onto bumper cover. From
under the vehicle, mark factory holes (with pen or pencil), on back
of bumper cover where rubber fillers used to attach to front
fender. Remove side fender extensions and bumper cover. Drill out
the marked holes large enough for adjustment, and reinstall Bumper
Cover, loosely. Install factory rubber filler side bolts only in
holes just drilled to front fender, loosely.
Hold fender extension against fender and place 2” masking tape on
front fender where insert hole must be drilled. Place fender
extension against fender and attach to cover with pre-drilled
holes. Pull extension back far enough to mark insert hole with pen
or pencil. Do this by looking down from top, and placing mark on
masking tape where top center of insert lays. Next, mark side
of insert by sticking marker between extension and fender and mark
side center of insert. Remove fender extension and extend marks so
they meet for hole placement. Drill ½” hole so insert head has room
for adjustment.
Reinstall fender extension and secure to bumper cover again. From
back side of fender, install ¼ x 20 x ½” hex
bolt, large thick washer, large thin washer, ½” small washer into
insert, loosely. Next, drill hole from extension tab into wheel
well and attach with ½” sheet metal screw and washer. Pull slightly
out at back bottom of extension and install final ½” sheet metal
screw and washer in wheel well. Repeat for opposite side. Adjust
and tighten all attachment points and you’re done.
