Installation Instructions for
El Camino Rear Bumper Cover with Corvette Taillights
Place both rear bumper cover and rear quarter panels on the ground
as they will be installed. Line up rear quarter panel against rear
cover so they align properly. Drill a ¼” hole from rear quarter
into cover top and bottom for both sides.
Next, remove taillights from bumper. Unscrew pigtails from
taillights and pull through inner bumper and remove bumper, (4
bolts per bumper shock). If you wish to use inner bumper, remove
chrome outer bumper and place cover over inner bumper. With felt
pen, mark inner bumper for cutting so taillights will fit inside
the inner bumper. Reinstall inner bumper.
Remove rubber filler under tailgate and both rubber filler sides.
Drill holes in top of bumper cover and into holes from rubber
filler. Place cover over inner bumper, as it will be installed, and
secure with ¾” sheet metal screws.
Remove left and right side marker lights and disconnect lens from
lights. Drill outside marker attachment holes, (marked in rear
quarters), with ¼” drill bit. Put side marker pigtail through rear
quarter and reinstall into lens. Attach lens and quarter with 1 ½”
sheet metal screw back into body, loosely. Reattach rear quarter to
cover, (these holes should already be pre-drilled in step 1). When
tightening be sure that quarter and cover align properly. Place
quarter inside rear of rear wheel well. Drill and secure a ¾” sheet
metal screw and washer. Pull slightly out at bottom back of rear
quarter and install final ¾” sheet metal screw.
The final step is to connect your taillights. This is done by
cutting the two running and brake lights per side and installing
the new pigtails. Your back-up lights may be used in the Corvette
lens without any modifications.
If exhaust pipe is covered by the bumper cover, you can (1) cut out
cover to accept the exhaust, (2) install exhaust extension, so they
exhaust will hang down lower, (3) cut exhaust tips back far enough
to install exhaust tip turn-downs.
