Installation Instructions For
Monte Carlo Fascia
We have made the installation instruction of the Fascia as easy as
possible yet we do advise you to read the entire instructions
CAREFULLY. Take your time and use some craftsmanship. The end
results will be worth the effort!
Remove taillights and housing from inside the trunk. Remove license
plate holder and original rubber fascia. Remove the rear bumper and
rear bumper shocks from the frame horn, (3 bolts showing and 1 bolt
on the bottom of the frame horn).
If you would like to have some protection (and we strongly suggest
you do), you can purchase a piece of rectangular steel tubing that
is 58 inches long, by 2 inches wide, and 1 inch thick, (the steel
should be at least 10 to 12 gauge steel). For additional support,
two bars can be used and bolted to the top and bottom of the rear
frame horns. Lauren Engineering makes no warranty, implied or
otherwise, that this product offers any protection what-so-ever in
the event of an accident or crash.
Drill holes in top of the Fascia where the original Fascia bolted
on top and sides. Place the Fascia as it will be installed and
secure with original hardware and washers, (if these original bolts
do not stay tight a 10mm hex bolt may be used for a tighter fit).
If there are any gaps between body and Fascia - refer to Special
Notes and Adjusting the Fit.
Remove Fascia after fitting and install license holder. NOTE: Some
trimming may be needed as original Fascia changed in 1987 and 88.
Place taillight cover on body and from inside the trunk, mark and
drill from original holes in the body.
Reinstall bumper Fascia, license holder, and taillight cover on
your Monte Carlo. If the taillight cover does not line up, it will
need trimming on the bottom inside corners. If there are any gaps
between the body and taillight covers - refer to Special Notes and
Adjusting the Fit. Once they line up, drill and install two ¼ x 20
x 1” hex bolts, washers, and lock nuts from the bottom of the
taillight covers through the top of the bumper Fascia.
Place pigtail in the back of the ZR-1 bucket and match the pigtail
with the opening, (some fitting and trimming may be needed),
install into buckets. Hold taillight lens into mounting position
and drill into tabs provided to install taillights. Install
taillights and Hit the Bricks!
